About

Bath won the rare distinction of being inscribed as a World Heritage Site for the second time, when UNESCO recognised it as one of the Great Spa Towns of Europe as well as a site known for its Roman archaeology, Georgian architecture and natural setting.

Stephen Bird, who as former head of the Council's Heritage Services transformed the presentation of the Roman Baths, brings his expert knowledge to bear on Bath's role as a spa, attracting fashionable visitors in search of health, well-being and recreation, through good times and bad.

Stephen Bird MBE was Head of Heritage Services, Bath & North East Somerset, from 1996- 2021. He is a Board director at BRLSI, appointed by the SW Federation of Museums and Art Galleries.
