The Upton Front of Pub

About

The Upton is a hug of a pub. Located in the pretty village of Upton Cheyney it is only 20 a minute drive from Bristol, 15 minutes from Bath and within the stunning Cotswolds. Surrounded by a wealth of great walking opportunities it is dog-friendly, and horse-friendly too!

Established in 1710, The Upton was saved from permanent closure. Refurbished and re-opened in March 2024 it is now under experienced new ownership. A village pub popular with its locals, it also has a spacious car park for its many returning visitors.

Now known as a ‘Refreshment House’ the menu offers some of the great classics you’d expect but with a modern twist; from posh ham, egg and chips to rabbit faggots and everything in between. All sustainable, locally sourced of course!

The bar offers an interesting and eclectic range of drinks including home blended gins, wheat beers, independent breweries feature as do a growing range of alcohol free offerings; some on draught. Its stunning interior is full of variety with colour, light and fabulous art work through-out, and with a variety of spaces The Upton is proud to offer a range of drinking and eating experiences.

The grand Parlour dining room is a large space with an impressive ornate ceiling, dramatic centre light, hanging portraits and flickering candle light which offers capacity for large groups and private dining.

The Cotswold stone bars offer a more traditional bar atmosphere including a large inglenook fireplace and wood burner, wooden beams, velvet window seats and a bustling bar atmosphere.

Tucked away to one side the ‘Snug’ is a quieter space which can provide a smaller private dining experience too. A new addition since March is the contemporary lounge bar with its comfortable velvet sofas, eye catching art and a chance to sit back and enjoy cocktails, some bubbly, a coffee or a quick snack.

Surrounded by three terraces there is opportunity to take in green vistas, village views, sunny spots, with the benefit of parasols, and if you’re lucky sunsets and a chance to meet visiting horses. The Upton has received rave reviews from the outset for their welcoming and attentive staff and brilliant service. It prides itself on delivering an experience that customers take away with them and leaves them keen to return.
