Type: Bar

After opening its doors 10 months ago with its infamous and highly distinguishable circular bar (hence the name!), Circo goes from strength to strength with stage two of the development, by expanding downstairs into a four room vaulted cellar. Taking the capacity up to 300, it’s a bold move to put a space in Bath that caters for those with a more discerning palette.

So what’s the story? Put simply it’s a chic night spot, that with its 3am license aims to be the coolest late night venue in Bath. Are we putting our money where our mouths are? We sure are. Check out the Julian Chichester sunburst mirrors that evoke memories of Nemo’s Nautilus, or the golden glow emanating from a range of Tom Dixon lights that are subtly suspended in each vault.

Feeling like a lounge? Where better to recline than on one of two bespoke Chesterfield corner sofas, or better still lay back and think of England on our Chesterfield bed. We kid you not. Something more formal? May we suggest a vintage styled wing back chair for sir or madam?

Keeping true to our roots though, we like to support our local artists, so step forward Bertie & Jack, Bath’s finest art team who have been specially commissioned to produce a range of pictures for Circo. And did we mention the all-important bar? Possibly the most comprehensive back bar in Bath, ranging from hand-picked wines suggested by Master of Wine Lance Foyster and Jascotts of London, to a stunning array of over 100 spirits that span the spectrum of alcoholic exotica. Well, if you’re going to have a cocktail, or indeed a bespoke concoction generated by our team of seasoned professional bartenders, you need an impressive selection to mix from.

And so to the music. Weekdays see’s background music supplied from in-house, a selectors choice that has seen previous commissions for Top Shop New York, Orange, Yo Sushi and Mont Blanc to name but several. Blending the cutting edge, to stone cold classics it’s a non-obtrusive mix that aims to tease and please. Weekends see’s Baths finest DJ’s on rotation, be that the jazz funk stylings of David Forde, the Balearic musings of Rude Boy Marcus, or the beats and grooves of Graham S. All told, it’s musically on point, sans the easy commercial money shot.

Food wise it’s a relatively simple but reactionary selection of hand- made stone baked pizzas and mediterranean salads. No ordinary pizzas mind – every attention to detail has gone into the preparation, from the nut oil infused dough, to marinated toppings and the finest locally sourced produce. Thin bases all round of course! We also offer an extensive mix and match tapas menu with delicious mezze dishes to boot that are served on our signature slates. Sweets are also available, be that a Cointreau infused chocolate torte or a traditional triple layered lemon drizzle cake.

So there we have it, Baths latest luxury bar and lounge that sets the standard for others to follow…
