''The John Rennie” is Bath’s most luxurious floating restaurant and entertainment venue on the canal for private parties of 20 - 50 guests. She’s a broad beam boat so there is ample space on board for everyone. There’s a flexible seating layout in the main saloon, which is glass sided, affording delightful views as the countryside drifts past. There’s also an open deck at the front where you can enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.
“The John Rennie” offers the perfect venue for every occasion, whether it be a social club outing, office party, wedding reception, anniversary celebration, stag / hen parties, business conference or corporate entertainment. The main saloon is centrally heated offering the opportunity to cruise all year round. There’s also a range of special evenings available offering everything from Jazz on a summer’s evening to special Christmas Parties. Alternatively, you can organise your own musical entertainment from singers, soloists, bands or just your own music playlist using a CD, ipod or iphone. Each cruise can be tailor made to your requirements using your own decorations, flowers, music & entertainment
From her moorings at Sydney Wharf, a mere 10 minute stroll from the centre of Georgian Bath she cruises the Kennet and Avon Canal through the beautiful Limply Stoke Valley as far as Avoncliffe crossing the historic Dundas aquaeduct.
On board you will find a fully glazed saloon area with fully fitted carpets, toilets, central heating and a variety of table layouts to suit your occasion. There is a fully fitted kitchen and a well stocked bar. All meals are prepared on board from fresh ingredients purchased locally. Our kitchen allows us to offer a variety of menus ranging from canapés, sandwiches, platters, cold & hot themed buffets, cream teas, barbeques, hog roasts, two course roast meals, desserts to extensive three course meals. We also serve Valentines meals and Christmas party meals during the winter. Our varied wine list features selected wines from all over the world that are directly imported from the vineyards for us; there’s also a fully stocked bar on board.
Over the past 20 years “The John Rennie” has been host to a wide variety of clients – from the aristocracy to pop stars, from business folk to hen parties & brides at wedding receptions.
Cruises last for 2 ½, 4, 4½ or 6 hours although all programmes are flexible and because we are a covered boat we operate all year.
In the summer months we offer a Sunday public cream tea trip that departs at 1.00 p.m and returns for 5 p.m. If you are thinking of booking the boat then this is an excellent way of seeing the boat in operation or alternatively come down and visit at your convenience.
Every Sunday afternoon during June / July / August & September we are running a Sunday public trip from Bath Narrowboats, Bathwick Hill along the Kennet & Avon Canal out of Bath through the historic Limpley Stoke Valley. We run the trips departing 0100 and returning 1700. It's a four hour leisurely cruise where we serve delicious homemade scones with clotted cream and tea. The cost for an adult is
£ 12.00( including the cream tea ) and children ( 14 years or under ) £ 8.00 ( including one scone, jam & butter with fruit juice) .
We can carry up to 50 people but we advise you to book your seat to avoid disappointment so you can book as many seats as you like or the whole boat.
