Pubs in Bath

Pubs in Bath aren't just lively watering holes to visit during the evening – many are home to some of the best British (often locally sourced) food in the city too.

If you’re in the mood for a hearty roast dinner, some tasty pub grub or a selection of locally brewed ales to accompany your meal, you've come to the right place!

If you’re after places to eat and drink that offer an extra serving of unique impact, consider some of these Bath pubs: a table on Bath’s only roof terrace at Hall & Woodhouse; lunch at the Hare & Hounds with stunning landscape views across the city; watch the boats drift by on the river from the Bathwick Boatman Restaurant; cosy up in the city’s smallest pub, the Coeur de Lion; or keep an eye on who’s coming and going from the stage door at the Theatre Royal, with a seat at the Garrick's Head next door.

For a special meal at one of the pubs in Bath, head to a gastro pub that serve excellent food, often using fresh local produce. Three Bath pubs have also won distinguished AA Rosettes: the Hare & Hounds, The Chequers and The Marlborough Tavern.

Don’t leave the city without trying one of our native tipples either! The locally brewed Bath Ales and Abbey Ales are served in many pubs in Bath, such as The Hop Pole, Salamander, Graze, Assembly Inn and the Star Inn.

For lively nightlife, head to The Cork, or enjoy more relaxed drinks alfresco on the large ourdoor terrace.

Cider fans will love the different scrumpys on offer at the WestGate and The Raven – don’t miss The Stable’s extensive cider menu either, go for the tasting board if you’re not sure what to try!

If beer and ale isn’t for you, how about locally made gin? The Canary Gin Bar serves a wide selection of different gins, including its own homemade Bath Gin. If it tickles your taste buds you can even buy a bottle to take home with you from the Bath Visitor Information Centre Gift Shop.
