Hansel and Gretel, first performed in December 1893 by Humperdinck, retells the timeless fairy-tale of two siblings lost in the forest. Follow Hansel and Gretel as they discover a house made of gingerbread and fall into the clutches of a wicked witch. With a talented ensemble of musicians, artists, and a top-notch production team, Opera in a Box delivers a fully staged experience within the stunning setting of The Bishop’s Palace.

Remember to bring something to sit on. The Bishop’s Table will be open throughout the performance, you are welcome to bring your own picnic as well.

This event is a fundraising event on behalf of The Palace Trust, the charity whose purpose is to conserve The Bishop’s Palace and its story as a place of enjoyment and reflection for the benefit of all.  The Palace Trust gets no statutory funding so the cost of maintaining the Palace is met entirely by grants, visitor income and special events.
