Itineraries for Groups - Full Day in Bath
9.00-10.00am Visit the Bath Abbey which is the last of the great medieval churches of England. For information on group bookings at Bath Abbey call 01225 429990. You can then take a stroll over the historic Pulteney Bridge and have a browse in the unique shops that are built into the bridge.
10.00-11.00am Take an open top bus tour of the city. The tour is one of the most enjoyable ways to view the historic sights of Bath and with running commentary, you will gain an insight into the city and its history. The tour runs all year round and departs frequently from points all around the city, including bus stop outside Bath Abbey. You can choose to either stay on the bus for the full length of the tour, or you can hop off at the attractions. 11.00am -12.00pm Visit Number One Royal Crescent designed by John Wood the Younger, it was the first house to be built in the Royal Crescent. It has been redecorated and furnished to show how it might have appeared in the late eighteenth century. For group bookings call 01225 428126.
12.00-12.45pm Visit the Assembly Rooms and the Fashion Museum. The Ball Room, Octagon, Tea Room and Card Room of the magnificent Assembly Rooms were used in the eighteenth century for dancing, music and card playing, tea drinking and conversation.
The Fashion Museum houses a world-class collection of contemporary and historical dress. The displays include 200 dressed figures to illustrate the changing styles in fashionable clothes from the late 16th century to the present day. 12.45-1.30pm Visit the Jane Austen Centre which celebrates Bath's most famous resident with a permanent exhibition and knowledgeable guides; displays of her life and family; Georgian Bath; contemporary maps and unique photographic enlargements; elegant costumes; a specially made film. 1.30-2.30pm Lunch at the Pump Rooms. Regarded as the social heart of Bath for more than two centuries, the Pump Room is the place to which hot Spa water is drawn for drinking. 2.30-4.00pm Visit the Roman Baths.
Around Britain's only hot spring, the Romans built a magnificent temple and bathing complex that still flows with natural hot water. See the water's source and walk where Romans walked on the ancient stone pavements. The extensive ruins and treasures from the spring are beautifully preserved and presented using the best of modern interpretation. 4.00-5.30pm Afternoon tea at Sally Lunn's Restaurant House and Museum.
Sally Lunn's is the oldest house in Bath (c.1482).Sally Lunn, a French refugee, arrived 1680 and established her bakery. Today Sally Lunn's serve a menu based on the world famous Sally Lunn Bun during the day and are open for fine English food in the evening. Museum open daily, showing the original kitchen she used. 5.30-7.30pm: Finish the day with a Spa Session at Thermae Bath Spa.
