Romantic breaks - Love Bath

Love Bath

Just Love

It is the look in your eye, not the bulge in your wallet that counts. So, with that in mind this itinerary suggests a few ideas to woo your partner that won't break the bank.

More than a bed

In the morning

Nothing beats wandering hand-in-hand through the alleys and squares of Bath. Drop in to the Tourist Information Centre and pick up a simple map or perhaps the City Trail booklet and follow the brass plaques in the paving stones. If you get lost, think of it as an adventure!

Alternatively the Mayor's Honorary Guides provide free guided walking tours of the city.

For lunch

Pick up a sandwich and make your way to one of Bath's many parks. Henrietta Park is just off the beaten track but very central, so you can be sure to find a nice secluded spot. Or splash out and pay 95p each for a deck chair in Parade Gardens overlooking Pulteney Bridge and the weir.

Into the afternoon

Bath Boating StationHire a rowing boat at the Bath Boating Station and picnic on board. Spend the rest of your afternoon splashing around the beautiful River Avon, downstream into the heart of Bath, upstream into quiet countryside.

If you fancy being a little more energetic we recommend the National Trust's Bath Skyline Walk. It crosses the seven hills surrounding Bath and affords fantastic views of the honey coloured city skyline.

The countryside surrounding Bath is second to none, and there are any number of walks and cycle trails to choose from. Pick up a leaflet and map from the Tourist Information Centre.

Evening

Cafe du GlobeIf you like live music with your food then head for Green Park Brasserie. For a traditional English delicacy there is no better than Seafoods Traditional Fish & Chips. North Parade has a host of cafes and restaurants such as Cafe du Globe and Sally Lunns, famous for the Sally Lunn Bun and one of the oldest houses in Bath. In the countryside head for a traditional pub or Inn for good local home cooked food.
