Bath Racecourse attendance is on good form
11th February 2011
Figures released by the Racecourse Association revealed that 2010 was another bumper year for racecourse attendance with Bath increasing attendance by almost 17%.
The number of people going racing across the country rose again for the second consecutive year, with average daily attendances up 3.4%. Had it not been for the inclement weather at the end of the year, attendances would have hit their highest since 2004.
Whilst other sports have seen a fall in gate receipts in 2010, racing has maintained its appeal as an attractive day out. These figures show a total rise in racecourse attendance of 0.9%, despite a drop in the number of fixtures being staged.
Holly Glover, General Manager at Bath Racecourse said “Racecourses are continuing to develop the entertainment offered on racedays to draw in crowds. Themed racedays are continuing to prove very popular by offering fantastic value for money with live music after the racing has finished. Bath’s sell out Cider Festival is proof of that; attracting a crowd of 9,000 in 2010; an increase of 16% on 2009.
“In 2011 we hope to continue to increase our raceday admissions by developing our customer experience. Attracting new crowds with additional entertainment is key. Customers who wouldn’t have attended a meeting without the entertainment experience the thrilling atmosphere and are hooked!
“Our exciting bicentenary year also offers us a great chance to get horse racing to become the talk of the town in Bath. Hopefully we will be posting a record attendance in 2011!”
Bath’s first race meeting of the season takes place on Tuesday 19th April. Further information and tickets can be found at www.bath-racecourse.co.uk.
