FAB shine at national awards
30th June 2011
Local events company FAB! has just scored a hit in a national awards ceremony in London. The company won the coveted Highly Commended spot for the Best Association Conference for 2010. They were narrowly pipped at the post by the Institute of Fundraising who took first place.
The Conference Awards celebrate and reward excellence in the conference industry and journalist, broadcaster and former Conservative Party politician and Cabinet Minister Michael Portillo hosted the lunchtime Conference Awards ceremony which took place at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster.
The company has been nominated because of the work they did in bringing the Olave Baden Powell Association conference to Bath in May 2010. The event was won for Bath over several other cities in the UK and involved over three hundred delegates from countries across the world, associated with the Girl Guides and Scout movement, in what was their centenary year.
FAB! found themselves up against some much larger players in the industry, such as the British Bankers Association, the Trade Association Forum, IATEFL and UBM Conferences, all of which run very large events with large event teams.
Managing Director, Andrew Wright who represented FAB! at the ceremony said, he was thrilled that FAB! had picked up the award. “It was an amazing event and we were delighted to have won the conference for Bath in the first place. To get a Highly Commended against such stiff opposition was even more pleasing – we are all thrilled with the result”.
