Bath Tourism sells Bath at world's largest travel show
9th March 2011
A representative from Bath Tourism Plus has flown out to Berlin this week to attend ITB - the world’s largest travel trade show.
Attendance at ITB provides a valuable opportunity to promote the city of Bath and the surrounding area to 180,000 potential travel trade organisations and visitors looking for future holiday locations.
Amy Harding, marketing executive at Bath Tourism Plus, is attending the event which starts today on Wednesday 9 March and finishes on Sunday 13 March.
Attendance at ITB forms part of Bath Tourism’s overseas marketing drive to target German visitors. The German market was chosen based on BTP’s statistics as well as VisitBritain and International Passenger research, which shows that Germany ranks as one of the top overseas markets to visit Bath. Germany is also one of the first countries to move out of recession, so potential revenue from holiday-makers is higher than other European and worldwide markets.
The overseas marketing project has also included a joint online campaign with Visit England and Easyjet promoting Bath and the route into Bristol Airport from Berlin.
Robin Bischert, chief executive at Bath Tourism Plus, comments: “We have never attended ITB before so it’s a first for the city to be represented at such an influential show. As it is the most important time of the year for booking holidays in Germany, we have been carrying out various marketing activities since January in a drive to attract more Germans to visit Bath. With increasing competition from other locations it is important that Bath remains a key destination for German visitors when coming to England”.
