Bath Tourism Plus appoints new Chief Executive

Experienced tourism professional, Nick Brooks-Sykes, has been appointed as Chief Executive of the destination marketing organisation for Bath and the surrounding area, Bath Tourism Plus. Nick begins on Tuesday 3 January and brings a wealth of valuable tourism and marketing experience to the position.
Nick’s previous roles have included Director of Tourism at the North West Development Agency and Head of Marketing Services at the North West Tourist Board. He has also helped shape the priorities and activities of the national tourism body, VisitEngland. Nick comes from a family of hoteliers and has an impressive portfolio of qualifications, including a Masters in Tourism from Strathclyde University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Nick Brooks-Sykes says, "I am delighted to be joining Bath Tourism Plus at this exciting time. With a new Tourist Information Centre about to open and significant new marketing activity planned, I look forward to working with and supporting our public and private sector partners to grow the visitor economy of this unique destination."
Mary Lynch, Chair of Bath Tourism Plus, says, "Bath has been recognised as a premier tourism destination by Visit England and will benefit from additional national resources in 2012 to promote the area. It is therefore excellent news that we have been able to attract a first class Chief Executive to lead the organisation and we are all looking forward to working with him."
Nick begins at Bath Tourism Plus at a busy time. The refurbishment of the Tourist Information Centre will begin in January which will see the current Information Office in Abbey Chambers transformed into a stylish, state of the art Visitor Centre. There will also be many opportunities to capitalise on major events taking place in 2012 such as the Olympics and the Queen’s Jubilee.
