Type: Shop
We are sited in a beautiful, grade 2 listed building of Cotswold stone dating from the early 1500s. At the lower end of Abbey Green the shop looks out onto one of the oldest, architecturally planted trees in the UK in a square that has often served as a set for films and plays. We specialise in wooden gifts many of which are made in our local workshops. On some gifts we can provide customers with the provenance of the wood from which the item is made. The larger items are all signed, dated and marked for wood type. We also design innovative carvings and garden ware some of which is made for us abroad. In all our dealings with our suppliers in India, Bali and Vietnam we are careful to deal wherever possible with the people who actually make the goods for us and pay them directly for their goods. We also use this relationship to encourage their use of sustainably forested timbers and have made considerable strides forward in getting them to use reclaimed wood for many of the key carvings. Take a careful look for instance at our Green Men and Owls in log all of which are carved in Bali from reclaimed timbers. Our aim during the course of 2011 is to make the shop stock exclusively wooden or made from tree derivatives. We are only a stone's throw from Sally Lunns and less than ten yards from Marks and Spencers so please pay us a visit.
