A Story of the Shakuhachi

This concert, with Stephanie Hiller, embellished with historical details, charts the evolution of this ancient Japanese Bamboo flute, from its humble origins with the Zen monks, via folk and ensemble music, to its incorporation into the contemporary music of today. This simple bamboo flute, with its haunting and evocative sound, has the power to captivate and enthral.
