This exhibition explores the Romantic response to the British landscape. Starting with Samuel Palmer and William Blake, the ensuing themes cover ancient landscapes, trees, the Gothic, the traveller and nocturnes. Featured artists include Henry Moore, Paul Nash, Stanley Spencer and Graham Sutherland.
The story continues in part two with the Brotherhood of Ruralists, founded at Wellow near Bath in 1975 by Peter Blake.
