Bath wins TripAdvisor Award

Bath has been chosen as a best destination by TripAdvisor in the 2008 Travellers' Choice Destinations Awards and appeared in two categories - 'Top 25 Europe Destinations' where the city came in at 4th place, and 'Top 100 World Destinations' where Bath featured at 14th. In both categories, Bath was the top British destination.

TripAdvisor (www.tripadvisor.com) is a free travel guide and research website that offers reviews and information by other holiday-makers to help plan a vacation. In its inaugural year, the Travellers' Choice Destinations Awards honour the world's top destinations, earning their distinction from those who know them best - real travellers. The winners were determined by a combination of travellers' favourite places and overall popularity on TripAdvisor.

Robin Bischert, Chief Executive of Bath Tourism Plus says, "We are extremely pleased with the TripAdvisor awards, based on real people's reviews, which show that Bath is a very unique place to visit and a city that competes with some of the most popular destinations around the world. Visitors are drawn here to see the wonderful Georgian architecture and Roman history and with a great offering of restaurants, top attractions, superb accommodation and beautiful countryside on its doorstep, Bath is a very special city. In addition Bath is the only place in the country to have natural thermal water as well as being designated a World Heritage Site, which distinguishes itself from many other destinations not only in the UK but also around the world".
