The county of Gloucestershire reaches from the north suburbs of Bristol and the Severn Vale to the far reaches of the Cotswold Hills, encompassing the Forest of Dean, Cheltenham and Gloucester. A visit to Gloucestershire usually includes a visit to the picturesque villages located in the Cotswolds, but there’s much more to see and do.
Visit one of the larger towns, Gloucester, the capital of Gloucestershire which is a vibrant, lively city with a rich historic past. The Cathedral weaves a special charm and magic that proved irresistible as one of the settings for the movie ' Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' and 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'.
The Spa town of Cheltenham is renowned for its Regency architecture, stylish shopping, colourful parks and floral displays and during Cheltenham week the town is full of excited race goers.
Tewkesbury holds a unique position of being on the edge of the Cotswolds but also forms part of the Severn Vale with the river Severn meeting the river Avon at the town. Tewkesbury has one of the best medieval streetscapes in the country and this can easily be seen at every turn.
If you enjoy the great outdoors then a visit to the Forest of Dean is a must, England's first national forest park and largest oak woodland. It’s a great place to enjoy some wonderful outdoor activities.
