Permissions
The Bath Film Office operates a permitting system which ensures that you get the right permissions, the right people know you're filming and that another film crew doesn't turn up in your parking spaces!
If you're planning to film in Bath& North East Somerset please download and our Application to Film form and Code of Practice.
Please send in the form as soon as possible, preferably with a week's notice. But give us a call if this is a problem and we'll do our best to accommodate you, especially if it's a simple documentary shoot.
We also require a copy of your Public Liability Insurance document with the application form, plus hazard assessments for anything other than simple small scale documentary shoots.
Road Closures
Bath & North East Somerset has a positive attitude towards road closures for filming, providing the application is approved by the Highways Dept and the Police, and all necessary local consultation has been carried out.
Notice for applications: Six weeks
Costs: £375 for the application, plus advertising costs.
Please contact the Film Office as soon as possible if you're likely to need a road closure.
Economic impact
All forms of filming has an economic impact on local businesses - from crew accommodation to location fees, taking on local crew to the getting a cab to the station.
To help justify the work of the Bath Film Ofice, we try to get an idea of the annual value of filming to Bath & North East Somerset - usually it's about £750,000 to £1 million.
