New Conference Website Launched

Bath Tourism Plus, the tourism marketing organisation for Bath and the surrounding area, is pleased to announce another development in their mission to encourage visitors of all kinds to the area. On Wednesday 1st November 2006 they launched a new web based tool for the business sector, with the aim of helping the city to 'cash in' on these lucrative visitors.

The Bath Conference website (www.bathconference.co.uk) gives potential business event organisers a helping hand with their events in the city, by providing a venue finding service. The easy to use system enables organisers to enter details of their event including size, type and facilities required and searches through the 42 venues listed on the site to find the perfect venue for their meeting, conference or product launch. For those who need an extra helping hand, the website also allows users to complete an enquiry form, which is sent directly to staff at Bath Tourism Plus, who are waiting to help find the perfect venue. Whether you need a small, intimate meeting room with complete privacy or a large conference venue with numerous break-out areas - even perhaps relaxation areas with games and sweets - there is sure to be the perfect venue for you on the Bath Conference website.

Bath is well known as an attractive city for leisure visitors, who are drawn to the city because of its architectural beauty, fascinating history and newly revitalised spa culture. These attributes are now helping to facilitate a rise in the number of business visits to the city - after all, where else can companies offer delegates such incentives?

As well as venue finding, the Bath Conference website also offers essential contact details for event organisers, including team building organisers, chauffeuring services and incentives providers - which can be as extravagant as hot air ballooning, paint-balling and motor racing!

Robin Bischert, Chief Executive at Bath Tourism Plus says: 'Bath does not have the same scale of business tourism product as some bigger cities, but it does have its own unique style, which is becoming more important to event organisers these days in their hunt for that 'something different'. Incentives are becoming as important as the meeting facilities, and this is an area in which Bath and the surrounding areas can strongly compete with other cities.'

The Bath Conference website is a new addition to the support already provided free of charge by the Conference team at Bath Tourism Plus. They already offer a popular venue finding and booking service, arrange familiarisation visits, assist with group accommodation bookings and give advice and ideas to those arranging events in the area. This is in addition to the marketing activities carried out to attract the corporate market - annual production of a Venues and Events Directory, and participation in the consortium 'English Heritage Cities' to promote the city overseas.

Marie Matthews, Senior Marketing Executive at Bath Tourism Plus says: 'Many of our members provide corporate facilities, and we appreciate that this can be a very lucrative market for them. This is why we work hard to attract business events to Bath, and we are certain that the new website will help create a great deal of interest and enquiries.'

The conference team have already been extremely successful this year in attracting events to the city - including the Royal Lifesaving Quinquennial Commonwealth Conference and Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships, which brought over 300 overseas delegates to Bath as a direct result of Bath Tourism Plus's efforts. The event was a great success. Organiser of the event John Long said: 'Bath Tourism Plus provided a first class service, always being ready to provide sound advice and practical support. We found all of the facilities we used in the city excellent'.

But there is more that can be done to attract business tourism, and in the coming weeks Bath Tourism Plus is set to step up the interest in the conference product of Bath and the surrounding areas with targeted sales campaigns to companies in target markets such as London and the M4 corridor, and the launch of a press campaign targeting national conference and business related media.
