New 2006 Venues & Events Directory
champions business tourism in Bath and Beyond

Bath Tourism Plus is proud to launch its latest Venues & Events Directory for Bath and the surrounding area.

The 2006 Directory features 42 conference, wedding and events venues ranging from country house hotels and World Heritage Site landmarks, to universities and museums. The largest venue featured, The Forum in Bath, accommodates up to 1700 delegates theatre-style, and the smallest, the William Herschel Museum, up to 20 delegates. A further 8 suppliers in the Directory offer support services to the conference industry such as venue finding, conference organising, guiding and chauffeuring, as well as team building activities and outdoor events.

Small to medium sized meetings at exclusive venues is an area of business tourism particularly suited to Bath & beyond, which offers a unique range of character venues such as the Roman Baths, Longleat and the Beaufort Polo Club. With easy access from London and the Midlands, and a fast growing regional airport offering scheduled flights to 39 destinations on a daily basis, the World Heritage Site of Bath offers event organisers and business travellers the perfect business location, as well as a wide-ranging choice of activities and attractions to support partner programmes.

In addition to highlighting the area's conference facilities, the 2006 Venues & Events Directory contains details of 28 venues which hold a Licence to perform Civil Ceremonies, 7 more than in last year's directory. The 'Love Bath' campaign launched by Bath Tourism Plus at the end of 2005 is also featured, together with details of the company's own free wedding venue finding and accommodation booking service.

Marie Matthews, Venues Marketing Executive at Bath Tourism Plus says:
'We are very proud of the new Venues & Events Directory for Bath and beyond. This year eleven additional venues have taken space in the Directory, indicating the value which is placed on one main source of information for the area's conference and events facilities.

'Bath Tourism Plus has already placed conference business worth over £120,000 into the area's venues for 2006, but there are often long gestation periods between event organisers starting their search for a suitable venue and the event itself. This September - six years after the initial enquiry was lodged with us - we shall be welcoming the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS), to the city for a 5-day event. Together with teams competing in the RLSS Commonwealth Championships they will be bringing in over 300 delegates from around the world. This event typifies the way in which we work with the area's venues and hotels, as we shall be making use of facilities at the Assembly Rooms, the University of Bath and the Hilton Hotel, as well as placing delegates in a number of other accommodation establishments around the city.'

The 2006 Venues & Events Directory will be distributed mainly through direct mail campaigns and business exhibitions, as well as in response to general enquiries. Copies of the Directory can be obtained directly from Bath Tourism Plus by calling 01225 477083, or via either the conference page on the official tourism website www.visitbath.co.uk or the dedicated conference website www.bathconference.co.uk
