The Ustinov, Theatre Royal Bath's second space, will officially re-open on Saturday February 23rd 2008, following a £1.5million, 15-month refurbishment.
With a stunning new design by Stirling Prize nominees Haworth Tompkins, the architects of the award-winning egg theatre for children, the Ustinov relaunches in February - a national theatre right in the heart of Bath. With new gallery level seating, vastly improved sightlines, and a new welcoming foyer/bar, the audience will be entering a thrilling, intimate new theatre.
The Ustinov's programme of innovative and adventurous performance, including the Bath International Puppet Festival, means that changes needed to be made to develop the programme and produce more of the work for which the Ustinov has gained a national reputation.
Another key improvement is replacing the previously compact foyer with a roomier and more contemporary foyer and bar open from 6pm.
The new Ustinov opens officially on Saturday 23rd February with its own brand new production of the award-winning drama Breakfast With Mugabe. This is the first revival of the recent RSC/West End hit.
Full details of the Ustinov's re-opening Spring programme, along with the new programme for the both the Main House and the egg theatre, will be announced shortly.
