Chris Horridge, head chef at The Bath Priory Hotel, is through to the finals of the Great British Menu. Chris (representing the South West of England) will join the other finalists from around Great Britain to compete for the opportunity to cook a fantastic four-course dinner. This will be held in June at the restaurant at the top of the iconic Gherkin building in London. The host is Heston Blumenthal (from the 3 Michelin starred restaurant The Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire) and his guests will include top chefs from around the world as well as gourmets and celebrities.
Starting Monday 19th May - BBC 2 18:00-19:00 - until Thursday 22nd May the seven finalists will cook their starters, fish courses, mains and desserts for the judges who will score and rank each dish. At the end of each programme from 19:00-20:00 there will be a phone vote where the public can choose which dish and chef they want to go forward to make up the menu at the banquet.
In celebration of Chris' participation his four course Great British Menu is available at The Bath Priory for lunch or dinner (£66 per person). Chris will also be participating in the Taste of Bath Festival (3rd - 6th July), where visitors will also be able to sample a couple of his Great British Menus dishes.
Chris' cuisine has received numerous accolades recently, most notably ranking in the top selection of Conde Nast Travellers Gold List 2008 for "Best For Food" selected from hotels around the world (1 of only 3 restaurants in the UK in the List) as well as being ranked in the top 40 restaurants in the UK in the Good Food Guide 2008.
