Suggested itinerary for a shopping break in Bath with the girls:
Day One
Arrive in Bath by train and head to your city centre accommodation. From boutique bed and breakfasts like Brooks Guesthouse to contemporary, boutique townhouse hotels like the Queensberry Hotel; Bath has a number of stylish places to rest your head after hours of shopping. After checking in, head to the shops in the Upper Town for a great mix of irresistible boutiques, galleries and antique shops. On your way back to your accommodation to get ready for your night out visit the Fashion Museum for some inspiration. Housed in the Assembly Rooms, the museum displays over 400 years of fashion history.
Start you evening with a meal at one of Bath’s independent restaurants. Try the range of international cuisine on offer – Italian at The Real Italian Pizza Company, Indian at Eastern Eye, Spanish at MiniBar or Thai at Thai Balcony.
The Georgians made Bath their party town with grand balls in the Assembly Rooms under sparkling chandeliers. Today's scene is just as lively with a number of late night bars and nightclubs in Bath. For late night cocktails head to Opa or The Earl of Manvers. Or, go underground for some of the best nightspots and head to Moles for live music or Celsius - an ice bar and club.
If you’re not up for partying, spend the evening at the Theatre Royal – one of the oldest and most beautiful theatres in the country.
Day Two
Take a stroll towards Pulteney Bridge – one of only a handful of bridges in the world with shops built into it. Underneath the bridge you will find the Riverside Café. Enjoy breakfast and a coffee as you admire the beautiful weir and city-surroundings.
The Milsom Quarter and Central Area have a number of high street shops and designer boutiques so you are sure to find the perfect addition to your wardrobe. During the morning stop for some pampering and have a manicure or pedicure at Champneys town and city spa on New Bond Street.
For lunch try one of the cafes and restaurants in Milsom Place or the Podium – two of Bath’s shopping centres.
After you’ve finished eating, spend the afternoon exploring the shops in Bath’s newest shopping development SouthGate. If you need a rest, and you still have room, enjoy afternoon tea at the Pump Room. Regarded as the social heart of Bath for more than two centuries, you can listen to the Pump Room Trio as you relax and look through your new purchases!
After a busy day, head to Thermae Bath Spa for a relaxing evening and rest those weary feet. Open daily until 10pm, last entry is 7.30pm. You can relax in the natural thermal waters of the open-air rooftop pool as you look over the city’s rooftops. There are a number of restaurants close by which offer good quality, local produce including Green Park Brasserie, Gascoyne Place and the Hole in the Wall. If after all of this you still have the energy to go out and dance, then put on your new outfit, and head to one of the many nightclubs open until late with a wide range of music on offer.
Day Three
Before you leave head to the Artisan Quarter for some quirky treasures. This area is filled with a vibrant selection of independent craft and curio shops; from reclaimed antiques and furniture to clothes, pottery and bicycles.
Finish your shopping trip with a leisurely lunch at Sally Lunn's, the oldest house in Bath or at Demuths, (a few doors down), Bath's only vegetarian restaurant.
Don't forget to pick up a Bath souvenir. Located next to Bath Abbey and Roman Baths, the Bath Tourist Information Centre sells a wide range of quality books, teddy bears, t-shirts, postcards and much more to remind you of your shopping trip in Bath.
