Peter Egan joins an illustrious list of actors who have played the master detective Sherlock Holmes, including Basil Rathbone, Petr Cushing, Christopher Lee, Peter O’Toole and Jeremy Brett.Philip Franks stars as his loyal assistant Dr Watson. Director Robin Herford’s other credits include the record breaking The Woman in Black. Design is by Timothy Bird who won the 2007 Critics’ Choice and Evening Standard Awards and was nominated for a Tony Award for his revolutionary projections in Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George.
Peter Egan is probably best known for the TV comedy Ever Decreasing Circles in which he starred alongside Richard Briers. More recently, he has been seen on stage in the West End in Art and Noises Off.
Philip Franks is best known for the roles of Charlie in The Darling Buds of May and Sergeant Craddock in Heartbeat. His theatre credits include many leading roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Journey’s End and Art in the West End. Last year, he directed the epic Nicholas Nickleby which visited Bath to great acclaim.
