A 15ft tree, a mischievous Jack Frost and twelve themed rooms as the American Museum in Britain plans to “Let it Snow” this Christmas at Claverton.
From November 25th to December 17th the American Museum in Britain will be celebrating Christmas at Claverton, but not in the manner we know today. Indeed, long before our jolly Santa began debating what to do with his bulging sack of toys, early American colonists were trying to keep warm throughout icy winter months.
This year the museum’s Christmas festivities, themed “Let it snow” will display frosty winter florals and snow-covered trees. This will feature twelve cosy rooms each depicting an era of American history dating from 1690 to 1860. Also, hidden away in every room, will be the mischievous Jack Frost. Children must find him before he is allowed to wreak havoc.
These celebrations will climax on Saturday 16th December with the most anticipated event of the season, Claverton by Candlelight. A thousand candles will light up the museum and the surrounding grounds. Families will be invited to explore the decorated rooms, listen to live holiday music, snack on traditional treats and have a visit with Ol’ Saint Nick. Finally the evening will climax with a firework display to herald in the festive season.
