Dating from 1769 and built by John Wood the Younger, Margaret’s Buildings is a charming pedestrian street of small shops, bistros and apartments, conveniently situated between The Circus and Royal Crescent (see bottom picture), two of the best known examples of Georgian architecture.
Bath is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and was deservedly designated a World Heritage site in 1987. It is best known for its Roman Baths and its elegant Georgian architecture with designs by John Wood the Elder and Younger. The city has inspired many authors and painters including Dickens, Gainsborough and Jane Austen, who lived in Bath and featured the city in two of her novels. There are many attractions for the visitor, as well as a huge range of shops, markets, cafes, bars and restaurants. Bath is also well known as a centre for antiques, and for its literature and music festivals. It boasts an excellent theatre, The Theatre Royal, and has an impressive 16th century abbey. A new thermal spa facility is planned to open 2003.
Within easy driving distance of Bath are Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge and Wells Cathedral, the Cotswold Hills and the historic city of Bristol.
The apartment at Margaret’s Buildings is Grade ²² listed and situated on four storeys including a ground floor entrance from the street ( 2nd doorway on right in top picture). It has been completely refurbished to provide a very comfortable, tastefully furnished base from which to explore the city centre and is ideal for year round letting.
Margaret''s Buildings Apartment has been graded 4 Star by the English Tourism Council.
