An elegant 200 year old Georgian country house, home of the resident owners Jane and Peter Wragg, Widbrook stands in 11 acres of gardens and fields in the rolling Wiltshire countryside, a county that contains the most extensive and physically impressive examples of ancient British history. Originally built as a model farm in George III''s reign, the Grange is bordered on 3 sides by tastefully converted stables and barns, which house some of the 20 large Doubles, Four Posters, Family rooms (a double bed plus singles) and Twins. The hotel has an indoor heated pool and small gymnasium and the low walls to the side of the main house retain the ancient ''bee-bowls'', reflecting the building's agricultural heritage. For seven consecutive years Widbrook has been named ''Little Gem'' hotel of the year and it is an intimate relaxing and homely place.
We have a superb 11.5m indoor heated swimming pool open all year and kept at a welcoming temperature upstairs is a small well equipped fitness room with equipment to suit all ages.
A footpath across our fields meets a bridle path leading to the Kennet and Avon canal towpath, then back to the hotel providing an enjoyable country walk. Horse riding, cycle hire and boat hire are easily arranged, and 2 golf clubs are a short drive away.
Our AA Rosette award winning restaurant, named after an ancient tree in the gardens - the Medlar, provides a wonderfully comfortable and relaxed setting to enjoy delicious freshly cooked meals using local ingredients. The imaginative menu offers award winning modern European cuisine to suit all tastes and dietary needs. A specially selected wine list including a good mixture of new and old world vintages will complement your meal.
The purpose built and self-contained Manvers Conference Suite is located in a peaceful corner of the grounds away from the main house. It has a magnificent oak boardroom table and carver chairs to seat up to 24 delegates in style. Attached is a Victorian conservatory that can be used for syndicate sessions and lunch service.
Widbrook Grange nestles by the side of the Kennet and Avon canal at the edge of the quintessential medieval English market town of Bradford-on-Avon and it is 20 minutes from the Roman City of Bath and the historic Longleat House and Safari Park. It is perfectly located for visits to mysterious and mythical Stonehenge and Avebury, the impressive White Horse at Westbury and grandeur of Lacock Abbey. It is therefore an ideal touring centre for visiting the delights of this beautiful corner of England.
