Hunstrete House Hotel

None

Type: Country House Hotel

Hunstrete House, England's quintessential country house hotel, is only a stone's throw from the elegant city of Bath, and just under 100 miles from London. Hunstrete House is steeped in history and noted internationally for its gracious service and fine dining, blending modern English with French influences.

The largely 18th Century Georgian house sits in 92 acres on the edge of the Mendip Hills and maintains its homely, relaxing feel with much appeal for the romantic at heart! The scenic views from the public and guest bedrooms overlook rolling fields, deer park, horse paddocks, a croquet lawn and woodlands exceeding all imagined expectation of the country house scene.

In April it is delightful to wander through the Victorian walled garden as the spring flowers, magnolia and cherry trees are in bloom and into the bluebell wood, listening to the variety of bird song and disturbing nesting pheasants along the way. Luxuriant and peaceful gardens surround the house and include a croquet lawn, tennis court and outside heated swimming pool opened from 01 May-31 Oct.

Hunstrete House is in an ideal location with easy access to the West Country's historic cities and attractions such as the Roman Baths, the cathedral city of Wells, King Arthur's Glastonbury Tor, Stonehenge, Longleat, the historic port of Bristol, Dyrham Park, Stourhead and Westonbirt Arboretum just to name a few!

Hunstrete's lineage dates from King Athelstone, 936 AD to the famous Popham Colony in Maine, New England, concurrent with the 1607 Jamestown colony in Virginia. It is claimed at one time the Popham family's wealth was greater than that of the King. The rich traditions of English country house living endure in this peaceful and relaxing country retreat.

Exclusive use, weddings, corporate events, antique, garden, historic places, tours and transfers can be arranged.
