Type: Walking Tours
A guided day walk, leaving from the ancient market town of Marshfield, 8 miles North of Bath, exploring the wooded Valley of St. Catherine. Your guide is Alison Mosey, an experienced British Hill Walking Leader, who lives locally. The distance covered on this route is approximately 6 miles (10km), easy to moderate walking incorporating down and uphill sections across mixed terrain.
Meeting at St. Mary's Church in Marshfield, the route follows the wooded contours down to the winding brook, passing by St. Catherine's Court (once home of Jane Seymour), several small farms and their fields of varied livestock. Climbing out of the valley, the route takes in the Cherrywood Project, a greenwood working school where there is a lunch stop with lunch cooked on the fire in the school's outdoor kitchen. An old drovers path takes the route back across the high fields to the church in Marshfield. On ending the walk you may choose to explore the church and village, perhaps enjoying a well earned pint in one of the several pubs you will come across in the main street.
