A spectacular Jubilee evening of music and song is promised for Saturday evening May 26th 2012 in the magnificent surroundings of Bath Abbey.
Music man Grenville Jones is joining forces with the Abbey to present a very special Jubilee Celebration of music representing the last sixty years of the Queen’s reign.
The Abbey will resound to tunes that link with the coronation as well as songs to evoke fond memories of the last six decades of popular British music. The evening will raise money for six of Bath's lesser-known community groups.
Masters of music will be represented - from Handel, Elgar, Vaughan Williams and Parry through to the arrangers of today, Rutter, Chilcott and Sir David Willcox. Add to that melodies from Lionel Bart, Elton John and the Beatles to guarantee something for everyone to enjoy.
Performers represent all age groups from the brilliant Bath based 12 year old concert pianist Nurry Lee, Zenith's award-winning 19 year old baritone Tom Corbishley and the Norland College choir with Maria Garcia as accompanist..
Add to that the brilliant 100 voice Bath Chorus conducted by Grenville Jones and other special guests. Since they formed only three years ago the Chorus have built a huge reputation.
James Scott will play the Abbey Organ and also appearing will be the Bath Good Afternoon Choir conducted by Francis Faux.
The concert compere is the 784th Mayor of Bath, Cllr Bryan Chalker, who will be marking the closing of his year of office as Bath’s first citizen the following week.
Yes, this is a celebration not to be missed!
All money raised will be divided between the Genesis Trust, Clean Slate, Project 28, Bath MIND, Focus Counselling and Friends of Young Carers.
