Bath Comedy Festival
Bath Visitor Information Centre
Now in its sixth year, Bath Comedy Festival 2014 builds on the success of previous years and boasts the best line-up yet.
Veteran performers Barry Cryer and Arthur Smith, seasoned professionals John Moloney and Mervyn Stutter, Radio 4 favourite Hardeep Singh Kohli and rising stars Harriet Kemsley and Larry Dean are just some of the highlights of this year’s Festival, which also sees the return of the flagship bonkers mystery tour on a big red bus, this time called The Red Wine Arts Trail and featuring the wonderful Lorraine Chase as guest clippie!
Hardeep is your love? - 29 March
Edinburgh Fringe performer, comedian, broadcaster and journalist brings his hilarious stand up show to Bath. Join Hardeep for his take on life, love and finding romance in middle age.
Turkeygate, Tinky Winky & The Turkish Mafia - 30 March
Daft storytelling you just couldn't make up about a six week trip to Turkey that went horribly wrong!
Bizarre Bath - 1 April
A hysterical rather than historical stroll around the city.
Timandra Harkness - 4 April
A one-woman show about neuroscience! But don't worry, you don't need a science GCSE to enjoy the mix of comedy, video, songs & live experiments on the audience. Can neuroscience explain why Timandra throws like a girl but thinks like a bloke?
The Red Wine Arts Trail - 6 April
The magical mystery tour to end all magical mystery tours! Hop on the big red bus for a bumptious, boozy belter of an event that will leave you staggering (literally!)

Core events will be held at the Festival’s favourite venue Bath Cricket Club, including opening and closing night gala cabarets, and a visit from Test Match Special favourite Henry “Blowers” Blofeld. The Natural Theatre Studio will be transformed into an exciting new venue for the week, complete with lush red velvet stage set, cabaret seating and bar. This special venue will host Edinburgh-style solo shows from the likes of Phil Nichol, Carey Marx, Mike Wozniak and The Real MacGuffins.
A variety of pubs, theatres, and other venues are also hosting a wide selection of comedy shows – cabarets, music, women’s comedy, mystery tours, student comedy groups, free entry gigs and a couple of shows for kids too make up a diverse range of entertainment with something to suit every palette and purse.
The Festival’s incredibly popular New Act Competition promises to discover more top new talent, with heats being held at the Victoria Pub & Kitchen throughout the week, and the Grand Final at Bath Cricket Club on Saturday 5 April hosted by Geoff Whiting.
The Rondo Theatre is presenting another run of comedy from 1st April which continues with a few extra shows after the Festival. The Bell and The Assembly Inn are both home to some free entry shows, and Komedia hosts an open mic night and an extra Sunday Krater show, as well as a visit from Kerry Godliman and the stage comeback of cult TV comedy Stella Street.
The Festival welcomes Bristol based women’s comedy proponents What The Frock! to Bath, and is delighted to include a weekend of student comedy from the combined Bath and Bath Spa Universities’ comedy societies at Bath Rugby Club!
The Festival opens on Friday 28 March with a Cabaret Showcase at Bath Cricket Club starring, amongst others, famously grumpy Arthur Smith, Tina Turner Tea Lady (you have to be there), and the music of Nick Harper.
