Bath Guitar Festival enters its third decade with a series of wonderful concerts featuring international artist debuts, young artists platform and new music commissions. The International Guitar Foundation (IGF) present a musical exploration in this weekend of concerts all at The Chapel at The Min, Bath.
The festival opens with THE SPANISH GUITAR with the music of composers Granados, Albéniz and Manuel de Falla as well as new work commissioned by the festival in a performance from festival director, Tom Kerstens (16 July-7.30pm), continuing the theme, one of Spain’s most talented young guitarists, Isabel Martínez performs a programme of work including Mudarra, Turina and Rodrigo with support from the (YAP) Mēla Guitar Quartet (17 July-7.30pm).
A jump over the boarder brings a concert of two equal halves from Andrea Vettoretti and the Masini-Constantino Guitar Duo, expect the music of renowned Italian composers such as Piazzolla (18 July-7.30pm). The weekend of the guitar is played out by one of Germany’s very best guitarists, Augustin Wiedemann in his Bath debut and a rare UK appearance, with support from (YAP) Flauguissimo Flute and Guitar Duo (19 July-3pm) Immerse yourself in that most colourful and versatile of instruments: the guitar!
