Bath Literature Festival takes has established itself as one of the UK’s most respected literary events, presenting the best in local, national and international writers in venues throughout Bath’s vibrant city centre.

The festival has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 1995, becoming a well-established event in the country’s literary calendar. In recent years the Festival has hosted a vast selection of literary figures including Terry Pratchett, Joanna Trollope, Doris Lessing, Tony Benn, Margaret Atwood, Alexander McCall Smith, Tariq Ali, Jacqueline Wilson, Ian Banks, Hilary Mantel, Carol Ann Duffy and Sue Townsend.

The Independent Bath LitFest 2012 (2-11 March) is the biggest year ever and features a phenomenal line up of events. Highlights this year include Hisham Matar, Ian Kershaw, The Golden Age of Arabic Science, Stella Rimington, Giles Gilbert Scott, Sacred Hearts, Claire Tomalin on Dickens, Alain de Bottom: Religion for Atheists, Tony Parsons and Nadine Gordimer.
