Nominated for five Olivier Awards, the hilarious and thrilling new adaptation of the celebrated Ealing comedy, The Ladykillers visits the Theatre Royal Bath from Monday 8th October to Saturday 13th October 2012 starring Michele Dotrice (Some Mothers Do ’Ave ’Em), Shaun Williamson (Extras and EastEnders) and Clive Mantle (Casualty and The Vicar of Dibley).
The Ladykillers was a huge hit when it opened in the West End last year. The production visits Bath on its first UK tour and is one of the best-selling shows in the Theatre Royal’s autumn season with limited tickets remaining.
The Ladykillers is a classic black comedy in which a sweet little old lady is pitted against a gang of criminal misfits who will stop at nothing. Eccentric Mrs Wilberforce, who lives with her parrot in a strange lopsided house in King’s Cross, has her life turned upside down by the arrival of Professor Marcus and his four friends, a most unlikely gang, who lodge with her posing as amateur musicians. The villains plot to use the sweet but strict Mrs Wilberforce as their cover and involve her unwittingly in their brilliantly conceived heist.
As the Professor’s plan starts to unravel in spectacular and hilarious fashion, the police are left stumped, but Mrs W. becomes wise to their ruse and Marcus concludes that there is only one way to keep her quiet. With just her parrot, General Gordon, to help her, Mrs W. finds herself alone with five desperate men. But who will be forced to face the music?
