This Christmas, the egg theatre stages the world premiere production of a brand new musical comedy, The French Detective and the Blue Dog by award-winning writer Hattie Naylor, whose recent work includes the Olivier Award nominated play Ivan and the Dogs (London, New York). The family show, for audiences aged 6 years and over, featuring the egg’s favourite professional actors, local talent and a dog, appears in the egg theatre at the Theatre Royal Bath from Friday 9th December 2011 to Sunday 8th January 2012.
When a mysterious crime wave strikes a small village in France, the only suspect is a small blue dog. The puzzled villagers are forced to pin their hopes on the dubious talents of a pompous gendarme, the eccentric French Detective, and his sparky niece, Le Chat. As people start disappearing overnight, the unlikely investigators find themselves in a race against time as they rush to solve the conundrum before it’s too late.
This thrilling and comical adventure story will feature live music, songs and magic, performed on a beautiful set designed by Hayley Grindle. Performing in-the-round, the cast will be accompanied by two musicians playing accordion and double bass.
