Wallace & Gromit's Children's Foundation Stages 'A Cracking Golf Day'

Bristol-based Aardman Animations will be one of 24 teams competing in ‘A Cracking Golf Day’ to be held at Wiltshire’s Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort (www.bowood-hotel.co.uk) on Friday 11 May 2012.

Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation - a national charity that raises money for sick children in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK - has chosen Bowood’s 18 hole championship golf course as the venue for its first ever fund-raising golf day.

Sixteen teams have signed up to date and golfing enthusiasts are invited to come forward to form the remaining eight teams required for the day. Each team’s participation fee of £400 + VAT will go towards the day’s fund-raising mission while there are sponsorship opportunities for the business sector too as well as the chance for the public to attend the event.

With Oscar-winning animator, Nick Park attending and Wallace & Gromit sets and characters (plus various other items from the Aardman studios) providing backdrops to the action across Bowood’s 18-hole championship course - stretching over a total distance of 7,309 yards and weaving through 200 acres of Capability Brown’s mature woodland - Friday 11 May promises to be a truly memorable day out for all ages.

There’ll be on-course and beat-the-pro competitions (such as ‘closest to the pin’ and ‘longest drive’ challenges), a hog roast and an evening barbecue among the many attractions lined up to ensure a bumper-packed day of entertainment. A signed drawing by Nick Park, designed especially for the event, will then be a coveted lot in the evening’s auction.

The public can also join in with the fun and encourage the golfers. A maximum 50 places are available for spectators to watch the golfing and attend the evening’s barbecue with tickets - to be booked in advance - priced at £35 + VAT per person. Visitors will also gain entrance to Bowood House & Gardens - a mile away from the course itself and open from 11am-5.30pm.
