The skies will soon be alight with colourful fireworks displays – the start of November is one of the most exciting times of the year! To ensure a great evening out for all of the family, here are a few tips to make the most of Bonfire Night, courtesy of Bath Racecourse…
1. Go to an Organised Display
While it’s fun to have a fireworks party in the back garden, going to a professional display takes the stress and hassle out of the evening. You’ll no doubt be in for a spectacular show with all the best sparkling fireworks, and with fun entertainment often included, it’ll make for a great night. Here at Bath Racecourse, we’ve got our very own event planned, Light Up Lansdown, on 1st November. Come along for fantastic fireworks, food and entertainment, including a funfair.
2. Be Prepared for all Weathers (and Loud Bangs!)
It goes without saying that it’s sensible to wrap up warm on Bonfire Night – with the autumn evenings well and truly drawing in and the weather changeable, coats, scarfs, gloves, hats and even blankets are what you’ll need. Earmuffs are also a good idea in general and for kids – if they’re not a fan of the loud bangs, they’ll not only keep little ears toasty but will help muffle the sound!
3. Stay Safe
Use common sense on the night – staying a safe distance from the fireworks, teaching children to hold sparklers at an arm’s length and keeping together in the crowd will make sure you have the best night possible.
4. Get More from your Firework Festivities…
Bonfire season doesn’t just stop at firework displays; there are plenty of fun things to do in the build-up. You could roll up your sleeves and bake some seasonal goodies like tiffin or a pumpkin pie, or have an apple bobbing competition.
Wherever you’re planning to enjoy Bonfire Night this year, we hope you stay safe and have lots of fun!
