Bath bursting with comedy, 1st – 17th April
Are you visiting Bath in the first two weeks of April 2017? Then join the locals in discovering that Bath isn’t just beautiful buildings, Roman ruins and world class museums. Behind those staid Georgian facades the famous Bath Comedy Festival is teaming up with VisitBath to bring big names and a packed programme of comedy in every conceivable venue: in characterful pubs, friendly clubs, intimate theatres and even on the streets in a city wide extravaganza of comic mayhem.
Big names booked include all-time favourite, comic superstar Paul Merton
The Bath Comedy Festival gets bigger and better every year and comics don’t get bigger than stage, television and radio star Paul Merton, who is booked to appear with his Comedy Impro Chums on Saturday 1st April in the glorious, 1930’s surrounds of The Forum. What a comedy coup – and the first time that this beautifully restored, art deco masterpiece has been used for out and out comedy!
Other famous faces will include Barry Cryer OBE, Arthur Smith, Mitch Benn & John Otway
Something for everyone
From the weird and wonderful, to baby-buggy-friendly kids’ comedy, there will certainly be something to suit all tastes. Discover new talent in the national New Acts Competition, or immerse yourself in the hilarious and beautifully staged Wedding Reception, where the audience are the guests. Or relive memorable comedy moments as Basil, Sybil and Manuel create chaos all around you in a real hotel dining room. Experience the Edinburgh-style free festival fringe, where you pay what you wish (zilch if you hate the show!), or dare to go on the big red bus mystery tour that is the Wine Arts Trail (possibly the world’s craziest wine tasting experience).
Making your visit to Bath a unique experience
With its plethora of heritage, spa, fine dining and shopping opportunities, all taken with a generous dollop of comedy on the side, you’d be a fool to miss Bath in April!
