Spend the weekend browsing Bath’s vintage and artisan boutiques and you will be sure to find a special something to wear, the perfect gift for a friend or that finishing touch for your home. To make sure that you don’t miss anywhere, we’ve created a unique shopping trail map, outlining all the vintage and artisan shopping hotspots…
First Stop: Green Park Station
Begin on the west side of Bath at Green Park Station for a stroll around the stalls of Bath VA Vintage & Antiques Market (first and last Sunday of the month) or Bath Artisan Market (second Sunday of the month). With second-hand furniture to swoon over, paintings to pounce on and collectibles to cough up the cash for you will struggle to walk away empty handed.
On To Kingsmead Square
If you’re shopping on a weekday, be sure to stop off at Grace & Ted as you walk through Kingsmead Square to pick up a statement piece from designers such as Chanel, Mulberry or Prada.
Next Stop: Abbey Green
For something more unique visit Waller & Wood and browse Carole Waller’s Spring/Summer collection of wearable art. Her screen printed silk clothes subtly depict the textures and colours of the Royal Crescent through broken up by blocks of colour and gestural brush marks.
Stroll Around Bath’s Artisan Quarter
Restored after a quick lunch in the 1930's it is time to make your way to Walcot Street, affectionately known as Bath’s Artisan Quarter. Dip in and out of a plethora of wonderful independent stores, and leave yourself time to shop in at Graham & Green and immerse yourself in their interiors emporium where you will be sure to find the perfect piece in their eclectic and vibrant selection of homeware and furniture.
Continue out on to London Road and you will stumble upon Verve Living. This homeware haven provides a range of vintage and modern furniture as well as contemporary artworks and trendy homewares, perfect for creating a chic and stylish home.
With furniture and homewares purchased, complete your interior design project with a trip to Farrow & Ball. Experiment with colour, texture and finish as you browse through the entire Farrow & Ball collection of paint colours and artisanal wallpaper designs.
Lunch In a Magnificent Former Church
Housed in a beautifully restored Arts and Crafts former church house, Aqua Italia provides a sophisticated setting to celebrate a successful day of shopping over a sparkling Bellini and delicious Italian nibbles.
Sleep in an Art Gallery
Check in to No.15 Great Pulteney to admire Ian and Christa Taylor’s eclectic collection of art and antiques. From the antique chemist shop unit and blue apothecary bottles lining the walls of Café 15 to the bespoke murals of the Artists’ Floor, there is something to hold your gaze at every turn. And be sure to check your room before you leave as any jewellery left behind may well make it into No.15’s lost earring chandelier!
