Novelist Matt Haig

Matt Haig is a prolific, award-winning author of adult fiction, screenplays and children’s fiction, whose novels have been translated into 30 languages.  His new novel, How to Stop Time, is about ageing and identity, the nature of change and the transformative nature of love.

His protagonist, Tom Hazard, is a history teacher who may seem dull to those he encounters, yet is anything but. Though he may look about 40 years old, he’s actually been alive for more than four centuries due to suffering from a rare condition called ‘anageria’ that causes his body to age ten times slower than normal. He’s experienced Elizabethan England firsthand, lived through the jazz age Paris, travelled from from New York to the South Seas, yet above all else he craves an ordinary life and a reason to embrace living in the present.
