BATH IS OFFICIALLY THE UK’S MOST ROMANTIC CITY

**The Perfect Valentine’s Day Gift for Bath**

Bath has been voted the UK’s most romantic city break destination, in a public poll run by Holiday Lettings (part of TripAdvisor).

Using a special algorithm to review their entire site, Holiday Lettings identified ten city destinations across the UK with the highest percentage of reviews mentioning romance.  According to the algorithm Bath came top of the list, but the top ten cities were put out to a public vote to be announced on Valentine’s Day.

The public have voted, with Bath taking the top spot, making the city the public’s most popular destination for a romantic city break.

Bath was up against competition from university cities such as Oxford and Cambridge, nearby Salisbury, and Scottish cities Inverness and Dundee.  Bath won with 40% of the vote, whilst Winchester came in second at 35%, followed by Lincoln with 9% of the vote.

David James, Chief Executive of Visit Bath said: “I am delighted that Bath has been recognised as the UK’s most romantic city break destination.  Working and living in this beautiful UNESCO World Heritage site, it’s clear to us all that Bath is an incredibly romantic city.”

“Bath is a city that was built for wellbeing and pleasure.  From our rich spa heritage and elegant Georgian architecture to the stunning countryside views and a fantastic food scene, Bath is the ideal city for a romantic break.  The city has everything a couple could need for an elegant, romantic retreat, and it is the only UK city where you can bathe in natural thermal waters.”

Laurel Greatrix, spokesperson for HolidayLettings.co.uk, said: “We are delighted to reveal that after running our online competition for three weeks, Bath has been voted the UK’s Favourite Romantic City. With its stunning Georgian architecture and luxurious spas, Bath has charmed voters for the win.”
