About

The gardens of the American Museum at Claverton Down near Bath have matured since the major re-design in 2017 which involved creating the New American Garden. Thousands of new plants and bulbs were introduced and the 2.5-acre site features large groupings of prairie-style perennial plants and grasses. The Mount Vernon Garden, a replica of George Washington's Upper Garden in Virginia, was also redesigned and replanted. To celebrate this project the Bath Botanical Artists have continued the tradition of painting artistically delightful images while maintaining the botanical accuracy of the plants.

Bath Society of Botanical Artists are a group of some 40 members who meet weekly to paint together. Many started with little painting experience but have a shared passion for the natural world. They share skills and learn from visiting tutors. Many have gone on to gain recognised qualifications and win awards at the Royal Horticultural Society Botanical Art Shows in London

Visitors are invited to come and enjoy this beautiful artwork and learn something of the history of the American Museum and Gardens in Bath at the same time.
