Family Fun Friday – ‘Wacky Weather’

Get creative with weather-based crafts this Family Fun Friday. Activities will include making Rainbows, Wind Socks and Wall Hanging. Grab your time slot ticket upon arrival and then head over to the Stable Yard Room to join in the fun.

‘Midsummer Mayhem’ Family Fun Day

On Sunday 6th August, the South Lawn will be given over to the annual ‘Midsummer Mayhem’ Family Fun Day with games for all ages, a bouncy castle, dressing up, face painting, crafts and activities.

Bring a picnic or take advantage of the new menu in The Bishop’s Table with a range of hot and cold lunch options to keep all the family happy.

Taking place from 10am-4pm, Family Fun Day is included with standard admission.

Nature Ninjas

Join the team in the Gardens to try your hand at pond dipping, minibeast hunting, a garden trail and a chance to taste some of the fruit and veg that’s been grown in our Community Garden this month!

Family Fun Friday – ‘Brilliant Bugs’

Join us for this week’s family fun activities in the Stable Yard Room. The theme is ‘Brilliant Bugs’ and crafts on offer will include bee mobiles, bug puppets and hand print butterflies.

Included in admission - just grab a time slot ticket from the Shop as you arrive.

The Wind in the Willows

For classic family entertainment, come along on Friday 11th August for an evening of Outdoor Family Theatre with Boxtree Production’s beautiful new rendition of “Wind in the Willows”.

With inventive staging, original songs and magical storytelling audiences are invited to enjoy this classic tale of adventure, friendship and picnics in Boxtree Production's unique and energetic way! Just bring along a rug or low-backed seating and a picnic and you’re all set for a perfect evening.

Family Fun Friday – ‘Dastardly Dragons’

If you’re looking to keep little ones entertained then head along to this week’s Family Fun Friday.  We’re making crafty pieces based on ‘Dastardly Dragons’ in the Stable Yard Room. Don’t forget to follow the trail to The Dragon’s Lair afterwards if you want to play outside too!

Included in admission - just collect a time slot ticket from the Shop upon arrival.

Rare Plant Fair

Are you a keen gardener or horticultural enthusiast?  If so, you’ll want to join us for this perfect opportunity to find rare and unusual plants from a selection of top nurseries from all over the South West. The nurseries are carefully selected to ensure that they are genuine growers who produce most or all of the plants that they sell themselves. The range is chosen so that we can offer the widest possible variety of plants to our visitors, including perennials, shrubs and trees, alpines, bulbs and exotic plants. All of the nursery owners are experts in the plants that they grow and are happy to offer the advice that you need to select and grow the right plants for your garden.

Tickets for the fair include entrance to the Medieval Palace and 14 acres of RHS partner gardens, and are available for £5.

Family Fun Friday – ‘Crazy Castles’

It’s the final Family Fun Friday of the school holidays, so get set for your Bank Holiday Weekend with our ‘Crazy Castles’ craft activities in the Stable Yard Room!

This week, we’ll be making crazy castles, models and a Bishop’s Palace mobile, so make sure you stop by and collect a time slot ticket from the Shop on arrival.

Bowlore Medieval Weekend  

We’re delighted to welcome back Bowlore Medieval with their thrilling weekend of activities on offer, including; longbow, crossbow, weapons demonstrations, combat displays, sword lessons, historical talks, battlefield medicine, hands-on weapon and armour displays, medieval tented encampment and have-a-go archery with lifesize 3D animal targets. You're sure to find a combination to entertain and astonish you! 

Entrance included in standard admission price.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ The Pantaloons 

Midsummer night. An enchanted forest. Puck and his musical fairy band tell a tale of lovers, mechanicals, and magical mayhem. The critically-acclaimed Pantaloons present their innovative and hilarious open-air version of Shakespeare’s timeless comedy – told, as ever, in their own distinctive and anarchic style.

The performance is open-air and will continue in all conditions bar a full-blown tempest, so do bring low backed seating or a blanket and any picnic or drinks!
