About

Discover the fascinating story of the kimono in an upcoming free online talk, delving into its origins, historical evolution, cultural significance, and enduring influence on contemporary fashion and design. This talk offers a unique opportunity to learn how this iconic garment continues to shape and inspire the world today.

The lecture will be presented by David Wertheim, a renowned expert in Japanese arts and culture and the Founder of the Ezen Foundation. The Foundation is dedicated to sharing the knowledge and appreciation of Japan's rich culture and history through education and inspiration. It has partnered with the Museum on the current exhibition, Kimono: The Making of the Cultural Icon.

During the talk, David will highlight several prints featured in the exhibition, on loan from the Ezen Foundation, while exploring the vibrant and intricate history of the kimono.
