About

Make a fashion statement this Autumn with an Op Art-inspired pocket square. Explore the art of perception through silk-screen printing with textile designer Jo Kidd, as you create a set of hand-printed pocket squares for yourself, or as a Christmas gift for a friend! Tour our exhibition, Seurat to Riley: The Art of Perception, before learning the techniques of hand-cut paper stencils and silk-screen printing. Students will experiment with silk, cotton and colour.

Please wear old clothes as textile print paste will stain all textiles including leather. Please bring a notepad and pencil, and a cutting ruler if you have one. Craft knives can be borrowed on the day, or bought from the tutor at an additional cost of £6.

Somerset designer maker, Jo Kidd has a Textile degree from Plymouth University. She has exhibited in the UK and currently sells her hand-finished silk squares, shawls and scarves under the label, Urban Chintz, through galleries and contemporary craft shows. Taking inspiration from the urban environment, Jo creates fresh contemporary printed textiles through a process of drawing and photography.
