London based trio The Wave Pictures – Jonny Helm (drums), Dave Tattersall (guitar & vocals) and Franic Rozycki (bass) – return to Komedia Bath with their album Bamboo Diner in The Rain, released on Moshi Moshi. Following on from last year’s Billy Childish collaboration, Great Big Flamingo Burning Moon, and their recent acoustic record A Season in HullBamboo Diner in the Rain sees The Wave Pictures battling against the robot music apocalypse. The new album is a bluesy, boozy love letter to the guitar, filled with American Primitive instrumentals, John Lee Hooker chugs and Link Wray style minor-key surf music.

The Wave Pictures are unique: an indie rock band with absolutely no indie rock influences. Inspired by classic American old-school blues and rock, they have formed a unique, open-hearted musical style full of vulnerability and authenticity. The trio will be bringing their album Bamboo Diner in the Rain to Komedia’s classic Art-Deco stage. Don’t miss the chance to catch classic hits including ‘Pool Hall’ and ‘Now I Want to Hoover my Brain Clean’ from a unique band in a unique venue.

Guitarist and vocalist Dave Tattersall calls Bamboo Diner in the Rain ‘the most personal album I’ve made so far.’ Full of improvisation and ‘on the move’ recordings, Tattersall says that the album ‘will not sound right until it is heard crackling through a broken radio in a burned out basement after the robot apocalypse, a last little sign of human life on earth. The resistance starts here.’
