The Malthouse offers a memorable, historic setting for your family adventures in Somerset, but with the relaxed, spacious living and level of home comforts you might not expect in a 300 hundred-year-old house. Lovingly restored right down to the authentic nails used in the oak floorboards, it’s never looked better. Plenty of character and many original features adorn the house throughout.
From the original cart-way you will see the stylish handmade kitchen and dining room, complete with working stone fireplace. The huge pine dining table is is perfect for your evening meals, cooked up in the well-equipped kitchen. An array of kitchen gadgets to keep you busy, new (2021) large double range oven and gas hob. Plenty pots and pans, glasses and serving dishes. Off the cart-way is a king bedroom and bathroom (shower), ideal for anyone that likes to be with the group, but needed a little space, also ideal for anyone that struggles with stairs.
The two lounges are comfortable and thoughtfully furnished. The first lounge through the kitchen has an inglenook fireplace, very welcoming on those colder days, deep sofa, workspace and cosy lighting.
You walk through the lounge to the large open space garden room, here you can enjoy views of the cobbled courtyard, garden and far reaching views of the church and countryside. Elegantly decorated and well proportioned, there is plenty of room for family games, relaxation and 50inch smart TV. There are also plenty of books to keep your mind busy.
Climb up the turret stairway helped by a rope are 4 large and elegant bedrooms, handmade thick curtains and crisp Egyptian cotton linen. Most of the bedrooms have original features of beams and stone fireplaces, although not in use, but give a real feel of history.
Turrett stairway leads to the second floor, great for a family having its own bathroom. The super king bedroom (zip and link) has views over the garden and countryside, the stone fireplace adorns the corner of the room. Original beams set the atmosphere of the whole of the top floor. The twin room ‘Truss” with captivating views of the ancient malthouse roof through a floor to ceiling glass window.
There are four bathrooms, the ground floor bathroom mainly used with the bedroom room next to it, indulge yourself with the Faith in Nature bathroom products and large fluffy white towels.
Outside, there’s a patio that’s ideal for outdoor dining, and a large lawn and a range of outdoor games available (including table tennis) for hours of fun. You don’t have to go far to continue the historical theme, as the pub next door is one of the oldest in the country and has been the resting place for many a monarch visiting the area since the 15th century. The surrounding county town, Frome, was voted one of the best places to live in the UK - explore the rich history, shop at independent boutiques, buy fresh produce at the local market or dine at one of the many eateries. Bath itself is only 6 miles and needs no introdcution to its History and Beauty, you could even find yourself behind the sceens of many a film shot in the Bath!
