Type: Pub/Inn

The Marlborough Tavern’s recipe for success is simple: serve great tasting, home cooked food in a welcoming pub atmosphere and back it up with friendly, efficient service. It’s a place that everyone feels welcome in: from 20 somethings and young professionals, to families and grandmothers. It’s a formula that appeals to locals and visitors to the area alike.

Inclusions in The Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide, plus 2 AA rosettes, bear testimony to Head Chef Richard Knighting’s consistent delivery of high quality cooking. Not surprising when you consider he trained under Marco Pierre White at The Mirabelle. He has a clear approach to food – to find the best and freshest ingredients and to create great tasting, essentially simple dishes where the quality of the produce speaks for itself. Food is essentially English in character and features seasonal and local produce from some of the region’s best producers. Think high quality restaurant fayre but without some of the stuffiness. Above all, it’s about great British food. Lunchtimes see a range of lighter dishes plus some traditional pub classics - and the Sunday roasts are legendary; booking is not so much recommended as essential!

Their food reputation is matched by their service – always friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They have an extensive wine list and selection of local ales, and they can mix a mean cocktail too. Outside they boast what is arguably Bath’s finest pub garden; a walled courtyard space, it’s perfect for summertime lunching and drinking.

The Marlborough Tavern is open daily for lunch from 12:30pm and serves food every evening from 6pm. The pub is located just a short walk from The Royal Crescent. So whether you live or work locally, or are a visitor to Bath, you’re equally welcome and we look forward to seeing you. Online booking is available by visiting www.marlborough-tavern.com
