The Cork

The Cork located on Westgate Buildings, Bath is the perfect place to while away the day with its contemporary scenery. Comprising of two bars, vaulted booths, a conservatory and a large al fresco terrace area. The Cork offers an ideal location to socialise, relax and simply enjoy the surroundings in the bar, out on the terrace or even in the underground vaults.

Part of the cellars downstairs have been renovated to create The Cork Vaults bar, offering a unique drinking experience. Outside they have created a spacious terrace area which links to The Cork Vaults bar with a light and airy conservatory. The building was historically a ‘debtors’ prison, and renovations have left the stunning Bath sandstone exposed. Teamed with Farrow and Ball warm terracotta and dark chocolate brown paint the look and feel of the bar is chic with an industrial twist as the ‘Tolix’ brushed steel bar stools, designed in 1934 by Xavier Pauchard compliment the Douglas Fir wood and Zinc bar. The conservatory looks out to the al fresco terrace which is decked out with oak sleepers, sizeable white illuminated planters shipped in especially from Italy, which light up the garden at night. Lavender plant beds give the finishing to the terrace. Perfect for summer drinks and a bite to eat day or night.

The vaults have been transformed into cosy snugs for late night drinks, whilst the upstairs The Cork original bar still offers a wide range of drinks from coffee, to the most complex cocktails. The newly introduced gastro pub food menu, with specialities such as Wiltshire rump of lamb with roasted figs, smoked almonds and rocket salad or Risotto with broad beans, asparagus and peas, has been carefully designed by The Cork’s chef and is available in all areas along with the bar snacks menu.

With warm terracotta coloured walls, complimented by sophisticated Bath stone indoors, and wicker furniture surrounded by stunning floral arrangements outside in the terrace, The Cork offers the perfect place to host parties, corporate business meetings and everything in between.
