A week of music and art events concluding with the Big Day in The Park – Sunday July 6th. 4 stages, great music, good food, family and children’s activities.
This summer’s music Festival will break at least two records: there will be more Keynsham performers than ever before, and more involvement from community groups and businesses in Keynsham than ever before.
New venues will include Farrell’s and The Grange Hotel – both of which are giving financial support and will host two events in the Festival week. Also on board for the first time is The Trout...
Nevertheless the Festival will begin with the Roundabout Arts trail on the weekend of 28-29 June, this year with live music at many venues. Pick up Arts trail booklets in local libraries, council offices etc or find details via the Festival website.
The Festival will kick off musically on Monday the 30th June with The Temple Street Bash: live music in The Ship, The Trout and Farrell’s and the promise of late evening shops and other surprises (perhaps!).
There will be at least two events every night of the week, and sometimes more, including the regulars - the Saturday Gala Concert and Thursday’s Opera in the Park and trad jazz in the Conservative Club..
New, and further expanding the Festival arts coverage, will be an event of readings with Keynsham’s writers and poets, at The Grange Hotel on Wednesday 2nd July, focused on the history of Keynsham.
On Sunday 6th July every stage in the Park will feature Keynsham performers - including Foreign Affairs, the Emma Hutchinson Band, Nosey Parker, Through Your Eyes and an expanded Slapface and the Hoagies – from teens to over sixties! And alongside them will be acts from as far away as Italy and the mesmerising Bella Takes Chase from Queensland, Australia.
This year’s finale will feature two great upbeat party bands: Bristol’s all-female Meet Your Feet featuring Bashema on vocals on the Bandstand stage with the Festival’s traditional dose of dance music, and the totally charismatic Bohemian Embassy – Bath’s latest best thing – on the Top Stage.
And leading up to them will be The Roving Crows – awarded the UK’s best Celtic Rock Band, with the UK’s best fiddler – and London’s exuberant Cable Street Collective: both of whom will have everybody on their feet.
Full listings and all ticket details for the week and the Sunday are listed and regularly updated as they grow on the Festival website.
Headline news snippets and updates together with event and performer details will also appear via twitter, @keynshamfest, and on the Festival FaceBook page.
